Goshen Resident Nominated for Prestigious Award
Nancy Middleton has been nominated by the League of Women Voters for this year's "Orpha Gatch Citizenship Award."
The award highlights members of each LWV area who stand out in the way of public service and volunteerism. The nominees are chosen after the public writes into their local LWV to suggest deserving candidates. Middleton has been a member of the Clermont County League for the past 8 years.
Other nominees this year are Lisa Davis, Julie Graybill, Yvonne Haight, Regina Herbolt, Connie Hunter, Ginny Kaldmo, Sue Radabaugh, and Charlotte Schadler. Middleton said she is honored to be in the company of fellow nominees this year noting, "I don't consider the things I've done to be in the same league with these women."
The winner is chosen by another LWV chapter, this year the Cincinnati (Hamilton County) League will decide Clermont County's winner. The announcement will be made at the League's 13th Annual Suffragist Event on August 25th at 6:00 p.m. at Receptions in Eastgate.
When asked how she got started in volunteerism, Middleton says with a smile, "They asked for volunteers, and I didn't step backwards quickly enough!"
Middleton has served with the Goshen Chamber of Commerce, and as the Chapter Chair of the National Association of Quick Printers. Middleton owns and operates "The Printing Place" in Goshen Township.
